Someone Like Me
I don’t have a story they’d print on a page,
No silver spoon, no headline name.
Just a heart that learned how to take a hit
And still get up, still try again.
I’ve watched the world through a cracked windshield,
Dreams in the dust, hands on the wheel,
Everybody’s got somewhere to be…
But nobody’s looking for someone like me.
I’ve been quiet in rooms where the loud ones win,
Held my breath just to fit right in,
But something’s knocking inside my chest
Says this ain’t as far as I’m gonna get.
‘Cause maybe tonight, the lights come on,
And I don’t disappear when the moment’s gone.
Maybe the door I’ve been knocking on
Finally opens for someone like me.
I don’t need perfect, I just need true,
One clear shot, one honest tune,
If the world’s been waiting on something real…
Maybe it’s someone like me.
I’ve loved the wrong people, trusted too fast,
Tried to outrun a broken past,
Every scar’s got a memory
Of who I was and who I had to be.
I’ve seen my name almost mean something,
Heard it echo, then fade away,
But I’m done letting almost be
The closest thing to destiny.
I’ve been standing in my own way,
Talking myself out of yesterday,
But hope’s a fire that won’t burn slow
And it’s lighting up my shadow now.
Yeah maybe tonight, the lights come on,
And I don’t disappear when the moment’s gone.
Maybe the door I’ve been knocking on
Finally opens for someone like me.
I don’t need perfect, I just need true,
One clear shot, one honest tune,
If the world’s been waiting on something real…
Maybe it’s someone like me.
I’m not asking for forever,
Just a chance to prove my name,
If I fall, I’ll fall forward,
If I rise, I’ll rise the same.
Every voice you’ve never heard
Is just a song away from free,
If you’re listening close enough…
You might hear someone like me.
Yeah maybe tonight, the lights come on,
And I finally stay when the fear is gone.
Maybe the door I’ve been knocking on
Was always meant for someone like me.
I don’t need perfect, I just need now,
Let me show you what I know somehow,
If the world’s been waiting on something real…
Maybe it’s someone like me.
I don’t need the world to change tonight…
Just one moment to believe…
That the voice you’re hearing right now
Could be someone like me.
